It is called the Amber Route beacause it was used to tarnsport Amber from the North Sea down to the Meditteranean.

This sounds linke a great trip. If the trip then had the option of extending on from Venice to Lisbon, I'd be a starter.

a small correction: Amber Route led from the BALTIC Sea (not North Sea) to Italy (Aquilea). (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amber_Road) That would be a superb trip!

Great to see so many of you interested. If the interest keeps up and we have few more than the tour will be a definite go. The dates would be around July 11th to August 21st. Piotr thanks for the correction. I will make change.

My son will be in Helsinki for two years, like the Finland start. Like the ride either way, this part of the world has been at the top of list of rides. I am 75% committed. Just need more details. What is the minimum number of riders needed for the ride to make it happen???

Hello, The Amber Route is a ride I would very much like to do. Please keep me posted of developments. Hope to be in position to commit to the ride by Easter, meanwhile I will work on my fitness level.
